Welcome to my blog. Working on this podcast for the last several years has meant a couple of things for me. Two of the primary things that it has meant is that I have spent a whole lot of time reading and writing. The vast majority of the things I write do eventually end up in the podcast, however from time to time things get left on the proverbial editing room floor. There can be a couple of reasons for this. Sometimes I decide that it is a pointless rabbit hole that does little to progress the stories. Other times I am suspect of my sources and chose not to include a topic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is amplified when reading. I come across a ton of interesting information that I simply can\u2019t include, unless I want my already long and drawn out show to balloon to an untenable size. In those cases I decide that the best move is simply to put that information aside and press forward.<\/p>\n

Enter this blog. My plans for this space is to occasionally put out supplementary material. This might be an interesting tidbit from something I read, a review of a book or an article, information about how I put together the podcast, and sometimes a dive into my personal thoughts on a particular topic. These are things that I have decided to largely leave out of the podcast, but still think it would be interesting for those of you who want a bit extra.<\/p>\n

A few things about this. First, this is not going to follow any kind of a regular release schedule. The podcast comes out every two weeks like clockwork, this is going to come out irregularly. Pretty much, I\u2019ll drop content as I create it. Second, and as hinted above, a lot of what I put up on here is going to be my personal thoughts on things that I\u2019m writing about. For the most part I try to keep those thoughts to myself, because honestly they really do not matter. I\u2019m telling the story of the political history of the United States. Of course I form opinions and thoughts, but the majority of the time those are irrelevant. I\u2019m trying to tell the story, not editorialize it. This however is meant to be more of a personal space for me, a place where I can expand on some of those thoughts.<\/p>\n
